Kamigamo Shrine by Tomikichiro Tokuriki
 
This is woodblock print is signed, and it is by renowned Kyoto artist Tomikichiro Tokuriki. The woodblock print captures the same lightness of a watercolour feel that is typical of so many of his scenes of his home city. It's the style of art that he called 'Kyoto shin-hanga'.
 
It has a sketch-like quality. The artist has captured beautiful Kamigamo Shrine, one of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan. It was an important shrine to the Imperial court when Kyoto was the capital of Japan.
